Principal's Message

kelly 1.jpg

Dear Jefferson Families,

I feel fortunate to be able to serve as the Principal of Jefferson School.  I am deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children.  Please know that my first priority is always to the kids we serve and ensuring that they are receiving a high, quality, instructional program.  Jefferson is a great school that is filled with dedicated, hard-working staff.  Every day we support students in their learning by pushing them to be critical thinkers and articulate scholars.

Jefferson School is implementing Common Core Standards and supporting all students with technology.  Students are also learning the importance of being a good citizen by using their "PAWS."  PAWS mean that we are Polite, Act responsibly, Work together, and Strive for sucess!  Our students implement PAWS throughout the day both in and out of the classroom.  Our kids are achieving successes every day!

It takes a Team to help each student reach their maximum potential,  and I am confident that together, every student will be a champion in learning!

School site update

paramount air monitoring activities

The Paramount USD administration is working with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to provide our district direction and information regarding the current Chromium 6 investigative process in the City of Paramount. The SCAQMD is the regulatory organization in charge of the air quality in the area, as well as the agency providing information regarding the current investigation.

The SCAQMD has indicated to our district that their action plan includes the placement of testing equipment in district property.   School district staff will work with the SCAQMD regarding location and timing of the placement and will provide access to their personnel so that they can complete the testing equipment placement.  Additionally, we have asked for information regarding their reports and findings that can be shared with our district community, and they have directed us to their web site, which includes web pages dedicated to information about their air monitoring activities in the City of Paramount, their meetings and processes: http://www.aqmd.gov/home/regulations/compliance/air-monitoring-activities.

Paramount Unified School District New High School Name Suggestions

We are opening a new, small, high school that will specialize in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math - STEM! The school will be located in Lakewood, and will open in 2018. One of the first steps is selecting a name for the new campus. Our Board of Education will use the following criteria for selecting the name of the new school: -In honor of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the county or community; or -In recognition of the geographic areas in which the school or building is located; or -An inspirational title that recognizes the particular mission of the school or faculty The Board will not consider any suggestions that violate the following limitations: -The new school cannot be named for a living person. -The new school cannot be given the name of a commercial development unless the name existed in the area prior to development. Please share your suggestion with us by completing this short form.
